Nests all around!

Finally a sign that the little carolina wren's nest under our deck is still being tended to. I had my doubts. Daddy wren has been singing in other parts of the yard and the cat, though he has no access to the nest, has been standing guard.
Either way, I saw one of the adults flying in to feed the other or the chicks tonight!!

Owen and Ty have also been busy ... making green grass nests on the playground

They still haven't laid any eggs though ...

And sadly, your little cardinal's nest has lost 2 eggs. No sign of them on the ground so I can only assume that a larger predator (crow?) has come and swooped a couple of them up. My uterus hurts for that poor mommy bird.
