First family race weekend ... pic heavy!

We left on Saturday AM, looking like the Clampetts and came home on Sunday afternoon sticky and dirty.

First camping experience for the boys and we picked the "rugged" kind of camping. A field between 2 motorcycle tracks in rural PA. No more than 4 porta-potties and nothing else there. We foraged for wood (Ty's favorite thing along with sleeping in the tent) to make a campfire even though we had brought a little cooking stove with us. found some black raspberries to eat, tons of poison ivy to avoid and it turned out that this weekend was also the Great American Backyard Campout ... we didn't choose our camping weekend for that reason. Pete and Owen had their first race weekend together.

Our camp next to the pee-wee track
View from the truck
Pete ended up not even finishing his first lap because of a mechanical failure but Owen ... wow ... he rode, and practiced and rode and raced. He even finished 4th out of 10 in the 4 to 6 year old 50cc class. He had so much fun!! We are so proud that he went out there and had fun and kept going after falling down. Seeing him glow with his little trophy was just icing on the cake.

"these motos are too loud!!"

Ty ready ... but terrified
Fell down and had enough
Ty had a hard time. He tried to ride but the track was too hard for him and after a big crash within the first few minutes he was too scared to try again. Well, he did try again the next day but he was so scared that he didn't want to go very fast ... making the situation even harder and he ended up falling down and not wanting to ride again. Thankfully, he still had fun with the camping portion of the trip.

heating up pasta and tomato sauce
cooking up the rest of our dinner
working on desert
roasting marshmallows
It wouldn't be a complete experience without s'mores of course

And on Friday we finished another little camp. I just wanted to share this cute picture of the boys looking at the raptors at Meadowside Nature Center

I think Owen didn't realize that his brother was holding onto his hand
Ty also loves chocolate ... as if we didn't know it.

  1. You are such a brave mommy! I don't know if I could handle my little man going that fast...

  2. LOL ... believe me, it takes everything in me not to say something. I was probably closer to throwing up watching him practice than he was. But hey, that's what he likes to do so I just need to brace myself and go with the flow right?

  3. I'm scared just watching... I wish him a long and healthy childhood...going crazy speeds with no seatbelt.
