Whibley Cedar Friedman

We adopted a 5 months old puppy last night. We've been waiting for him for a week now and he is here to stay. He picked us for sure and has really taken to the boys. Ty is elated with this puppy who fetches balls and frisbees and drops them at your feet for repeated throwing. A puppy who is amazingly calm, not jumpy,   already well behaved and only has to be redirected to chew his own toys once in a while ... not every 5 seconds. Little Whibley is already family and has only been with us for 24 hours. Tenzing is avoiding him mostly but we are facilitating the introductions slowly and successfully so far. Whibley is used to cat and because the slept with one in his foster home as well as 3 other siblings and the resident dogs, he is looking for companionship. Tenzing isn't ready yet but they can stand being in the same room already and it's only been 1 day since our new family member arrived. I have much hope of friendship for these 2.
Originally he wasn't eligible for adoption because of a little allergic reaction they noticed during the day yesterday. When I saw him, his face reminded me of my friend Nancy's dog Pinkie when she fostered her before truly adopting her. She was about Whibley's age and had a severe case of demodectic mange. Whibley's case was confirmed at the vet's office this afternoon so my feeling was right. Poor little guy is itchy but at this point he is being treated appropriately.
As for the name, only 4 made the cut after a long list: River, Mowgli, Whibley and Cedar. His name was Brandon and after democratic vote, Whibley won. I had originally picked Mowgli, Owen came up with Cedar and was upset the name didn't stick so we added a middle name. Ty kept changing his mind and some names on the long list were just plain ridiculous. So there we go, now for the pictures ... he is a little swollen form the mange but hopefully he'll be all recovered in about a month.

The boys are in love with him and it looks like the feeling is mutual :)
